Filmora is Wondershare’s video editor. The vendor describes Filmora 16 as an AI-powered video editor, and the product page lists a long set of editing, colour, audio and AI tools. This review looks at what the vendor states about platforms, features, the free edition and the plan structure.

How this review was made. This is a research-based review, not a lab test. Every claim comes from the vendor's own pages, read on 19 October 2026 and listed at the bottom. Where a vendor does not say something, we write "not stated". We do not publish prices: see the vendor's pricing page for your region.

Look at Filmora if

  • You want a general-purpose editor with a free edition to try first.
  • You want AI tools such as captions, voice enhancement or text-based editing inside the editor.
  • You prefer the option of a one-time purchase and accept that it covers one major version.

Look elsewhere if

  • You cannot accept a watermark on exports while you evaluate the free edition.
  • You need the system requirements confirmed first: the product page refers to a separate specification page.
  • You want to compare it with other editors first; see our video editor comparison.

What the vendor says about features

The product page describes a multi-track timeline, keyframes, camera tracking, masks and blend modes, auto reframe, and colour tools including HSL, curves and colour wheels. Audio tools named are noise reduction, silence detection, beat sync, ducking and audio sync. It also lists screen recording of screen, camera, microphones and system audio.

For AI, the page lists media analysis, text-based editing, caption and subtitle generation, voice enhancement, AI text, image and audio to video, AI Extend, object removal and video enhancement. The vendor cites more than 2.9 million creative assets (templates, effects, transitions, music, filters, stickers and titles). Export formats named include MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV and MPEG, and the page mentions Final Cut Pro 7 XML export.

Platforms

Desktop apps are listed for Windows and macOS, and mobile apps for iOS, iPadOS and Android. A web version is not stated on the page we read. The pricing page says one Basic or Advanced licence works on both Windows and Mac but not on iOS or iPadOS.

Free edition and plans

The vendor says Filmora is free to download and use, and that videos exported from the free version include a Filmora watermark. Other free-edition limits are not stated.

The pricing page lists Free, Basic, Advanced and Perpetual plans. Basic and Advanced are auto-renewing subscriptions that can be cancelled at any time. The Perpetual plan is a one-time purchase that covers updates within Filmora 16 and excludes future major versions, and perpetual licences are specific to Windows or Mac. Basic and Advanced are single-user licences that cannot be transferred or shared. AI credits are allotted by plan: Advanced includes a monthly allowance, Perpetual includes a one-time allowance, and unused monthly credits are not carried over. A 30-day money-back guarantee is stated, subject to Wondershare’s refund policy. For current prices see the vendor’s pricing page, linked below.

What is not stated

  • System requirements: the product page refers to a separate page.
  • The limits of the free edition other than the watermark.
  • The number of devices a subscription licence can be used on.
