Pricing: see the vendor's pricing page

Dr.Fone is a desktop toolkit for phones and tablets, sold as separate modules or as a full toolkit: data management and backup, data recovery, WhatsApp transfer, phone transfer, system repair, data eraser, screen unlock and more. The free trial mostly lets you scan, preview or review options, and the vendor's own pages leave several limits unstated. This review is based on vendor pages only.

Pros

  • One suite covers many phone tasks: data manager, backup, recovery, phone-to-phone transfer, WhatsApp transfer, system repair, data eraser and screen mirroring (vendor)
  • Works on both iOS and Android, with Windows and Mac desktop installers
  • A free trial exists, and the vendor's trial page says it is limited by feature access rather than a countdown
  • Monthly, annual and perpetual plans are offered for most modules, with a 7-day money-back guarantee stated
  • A tech-spec page lists system requirements and model lists for several modules

Cons

  • The free trial mainly allows scanning, previewing or reviewing options; recovering, restoring, transferring or unlocking needs a paid licence
  • The headline 99.5% success rate and other figures are the vendor's own and are not defined on the page we read
  • The vendor's home page and tech-spec page name different latest OS versions
  • Some features are limited to certain brands, models or Android versions, and some modules are platform-limited
  • A perpetual plan covers updates within one major version only

Wondershare Dr.Fone is a desktop toolkit for managing and repairing phones and tablets. This review summarises what the vendor’s own pages state, and where they are silent.

How this review was made. This is a research-based review, not a lab test. Every claim comes from the vendor's own pages, read on 19 October 2026 and listed at the bottom. Where a vendor does not say something, we write "not stated". The vendor's pricing page returned an access error when we requested its buy page, but its store page could be read. Wikipedia pages we tried for neutral background were not found, so none is used. We do not publish prices or discounts: see the vendor's store page for your region.

Look at Dr.Fone if

  • You want one desktop suite for phone backup, transfer between iOS and Android, and data management.
  • You want to scan a phone and preview recoverable files before paying.
  • You prefer to buy only the modules you need, or a full toolkit.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need to recover files from a computer, hard drive or SD card: that is a different product (see below).
  • You need independent evidence of success rates: the figures we found are the vendor's own.
  • You need confirmation that your exact phone model works: the pages list models only for some features.

How Dr.Fone differs from Recoverit

Dr.Fone works with phones and tablets (iOS and Android), connected to a Windows PC or a Mac. Wondershare Recoverit is data recovery software for computers and drives: hard drives, USB drives, SD cards, NAS devices and crashed PCs, on Windows and Mac. Dr.Fone includes a phone data recovery module, but it is one of many modules in a phone toolkit, while Recoverit is built around recovering files from computer storage. If your lost files are on a phone, the Dr.Fone pages describe that case; if they are on a computer or external drive, the Recoverit review is the relevant one.

Modules the vendor lists

The home page presents these modules, each for iOS and Android unless noted:

  • Phone manager and backup: the vendor says it handles “30+” types of phone data, and describes backup as “24 types, wireless, incremental”.
  • Data recovery: recovering lost Android files and WhatsApp data, including from broken phones, and deleted photos, WhatsApp chats and messages on iOS.
  • WhatsApp transfer: transfer, back up and restore WhatsApp messages and files; Viber, LINE and WeChat are also named.
  • Phone transfer: transfer data between iOS and Android “in one click”.
  • System repair: fixing iOS and Android system problems.
  • Data eraser: wiping data permanently and freeing up space.
  • Screen mirror: mirroring the phone to a PC or Mac, with recording and screenshots.
  • Phone verification: a device report covering system version, storage, battery life and a score.
  • Password manager (iOS): finding Apple ID, Wi-Fi, app, web, email and Screen Time passwords on iOS.
  • Virtual location: changing the GPS location of a device.
  • Screen unlock: the vendor describes removing lock screens, plus FRP, iCloud lock and Apple ID.

The vendor also lists web tools (Dr.Fone Online, Dr.Fone Air, a HEIC converter, a free IMEI checker), mobile apps and several single-purpose tools. We did not read their individual pages.

Screen unlock and WhatsApp transfer: what the vendor states

These modules touch locked devices and private chats. We describe only what the pages state and give no instructions.

  • Screen unlock: the tech-spec page says unlocking an Android screen with no data loss is limited to select Samsung and LG models on Android 5.0 and later; for other brands the vendor says data may be lost, and Huawei is listed for Android 10 only. FRP bypass is listed for major Samsung, Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models, and iCloud Activation Lock removal for iPhone 5s through the iPhone 17 series, with supported versions varying by model. The pages we read do not state any ownership or authorisation requirement; the free trial lets you review unlock options only.
  • WhatsApp transfer: the free trial allows backing up WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business messages; restore, transfer and merge are not marked as free. Backup size limits are not stated.

Platforms and system requirements

The vendor’s tech-spec page lists Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, and macOS 10.13 or later, with a 1 GHz or faster Intel or AMD processor, 7 GB of free disk space and 1 GB of free RAM (2 GB or more recommended). Phones: Android 5.0 or later; iOS 5.0 or later in the general requirements, though the device table lists older models at iOS 12.0 or later. It states support for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models and all Android devices, then gives narrower lists per feature. The home page headlines support for Android 16 and iOS 27, while the tech-spec page says “iOS 26/Android 16”, so we cannot confirm which iOS version is current. Mac processor requirements are not stated.

The free trial

The vendor’s free-trial page says the trial is “mainly limited by feature access rather than by a strict countdown”. Per module:

  • Data recovery: scan and preview; recovering and exporting files needs activation.
  • Phone transfer: preview transfer options; the comparison table mentions “10 free photos”.
  • System repair: limited tools such as entering and exiting download or recovery mode; the full repair needs activation.
  • Screen unlock: review unlock options; no free unlocking is listed.
  • Basic data management: “10 free” limits are shown for several data types, but the extracted table does not clearly separate free and paid columns.
  • Virtual location: the table lists 3 location changes.

Plans and licences

The vendor’s store page lists monthly, annual and perpetual plans for most modules (virtual location has monthly, quarterly and annual; Dr.Fone Air and the online unlock tool have their own plans). Monthly and annual plans are labelled auto-renewing with cancellation at any time. Perpetual plans are a one-time purchase with updates inside the same major version; a new major version may need another purchase. Annual plans include major upgrades during the subscription. Dr.Fone Basic covers data transfer, management, backup and restore, and screen mirroring; the full toolkit adds screen unlock, data recovery, virtual location, WhatsApp transfer, phone transfer, data eraser, system repair and password manager. Individual features can also be bought separately.

Most licences cover 5 mobile devices and 2 Windows PCs or 2 Macs; going over the limit triggers a reminder, and more devices need another or a business licence. The vendor states a 7-day money-back guarantee for products that do not perform as intended, subject to its refund policy, which we did not read. See the current price on Dr.Fone’s store page.

Vendor claims

The home page cites a “2026 Gold Award in Data Security” from Cybersecurity Insiders, a zero-data-retention architecture, GDPR compliance, AES-256 encryption, “50M+ active users” and a “99.5% success rate” beside “9.5M+ secure operations”. These are the vendor’s claims; the page does not define what the success rate measures, and we did not verify any of them.

What is not stated

  • Independent test results for recovery, repair or unlock success rates.
  • A fixed trial length, the free scan limits for data recovery, and WhatsApp backup size limits.
  • Ownership or authorisation requirements for the screen unlock module, in the pages we read.
  • Mac processor requirements.
  • Terms of the refund policy (the linked policy page was not read).
  • Details of the web tools, mobile apps and single-purpose tools.
