A research-based review of Wondershare Recoverit built from the vendor's own pages: Windows and Mac recovery, video and NAS recovery, bootable media, the free recovery limit and the plan types. Not lab-tested.

Recoverit is data recovery software for Windows and Mac with a free edition that recovers up to a stated amount of data, plus monthly, annual and perpetual plans. The vendor lists video, SD card, NAS, Linux and crashed-PC recovery. This review is based on vendor pages only, and the vendor's success-rate figure comes from its own internal testing.

- Recovery from SD cards, hard drives, USB drives, disk images, the recycle bin, NAS devices and Linux file systems is listed

Cons
- The recovery success rate the vendor cites comes from its own internal testing
- Monthly and annual plans are time-limited, and a perpetual plan covers one major version only

- The comparison table on the free page does not show in text which rows are included in the free edition
- The refund promise is limited: a 7-day guarantee when no solution can be found
Wondershare Recoverit is data recovery software for Windows and Mac. The vendor describes it as an AI-powered tool for recovering deleted files, videos and photos from computers, SD cards, external drives, NAS devices and crashed systems. This review summarises what the vendor’s own pages state, and where they are silent.
Look at Recoverit if
- You want to scan and preview lost files for free before deciding whether to pay.
- You lost photos or videos from an SD card, a camera, a drone or a GoPro.
- You need to recover from a NAS, a Linux file system or a PC that will not boot.
Look elsewhere if
- You need independent evidence of recovery rates: the vendor's figure is from internal testing.
- You need to recover more than the free limit and want to avoid a time-limited plan.
- You need confirmed behaviour on SSDs after the operating system has deleted data: the pages we read do not describe it.
What the vendor says it recovers
The home page says Recoverit recovers deleted files, videos, photos and more than 1,000 other file formats from SD cards, hard drives, external devices, crashed computers, Windows and Mac systems, NAS and Linux. Listed scenarios include formatted drives, RAW disks, partitions, the recycle bin and the Mac Trash, and the navigation also names RAID disk recovery and OneDrive recovery. The vendor describes AI search that finds files by type, timestamp, camera, size or recovery status, and AI photo and video repair after recovery.
Media, NAS, Linux and crashed PCs
- Video and cameras: the vendor says patented technology can gather fragments of Ultra HD, 4K and 8K video, and lists SD card recovery for DJI, GoPro, Canon, Sony and other cameras.
- NAS: remote recovery from failed or corrupted NAS servers such as Synology, QNAP and Thecus, without removing the disks from the NAS.
- Linux: support for the EXT4, BTRFS, XFS and BFS file systems is stated.
- Crashed computers: a bootable USB drive is described for blue screens, unexpected reboots and other system crashes.
Platforms and system requirements
The product is sold for Windows and Mac. The Windows free-edition page lists Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista and XP, and Windows Server versions from 2003 to 2025. It lists these file systems: FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, NTFS5, ReFS, HFS, HFS+, APFS, EXT2, EXT3, EXT4 and BTRFS, plus any RAW disk. Hardware needs are 1 GB of free disk space, at least 4 GB of RAM and a 1.0 GHz or faster 32-bit, 64-bit or ARM-compatible CPU. Mac system requirements were not on the pages we read.
The free edition and the plans
The vendor’s free page says the free edition recovers up to 500 MB, with free scan and preview. It then shows a table of rows that includes recovery from BitLocker-encrypted drives, NAS and Linux devices, enhanced photo and video recovery, a bootable toolkit and corrupt video repair. The page does not show in text which of these rows the free edition includes, so we cannot say.
The store page lists a monthly plan, an annual plan and a perpetual plan. The vendor says a monthly or annual plan lets you use the product for that period, while the perpetual plan gives permanent use of the major version you bought, with updates inside that version only and no upgrades to future major versions. The same feature highlights are listed under each plan. A licence is for a stated number of Windows PCs, which are bound to it when activated and cannot be changed afterwards. The vendor offers a 7-day money-back guarantee if no solution to your problem can be found. See the current price on Recoverit’s store page for your region.
What is not stated

- Whether recovery works on SSDs after the operating system has deleted data.
